BURNABY, B.C. – The unbeaten streak is at five matches now for the Timbers U23s, as on Friday evening north of the border, the road squad battled back from a goal deficit in the first half to earn a 2-2 draw with the TSS FC Rovers. During the five-match unbeaten streak, the Timbers U23s have recorded four ties and one win.

“We are very disappointed with the ruling on the first TSS goal as we believe he was clearly offside,” said Timbers U23 head coach Aaron Lewis. “Even with that key moment not going our way, our group was the aggressor all night and continues to collect points on the road.”

The match started quite well for the road side, as Timur Zhividze fed Christo Michaelson with a through ball in the fifth minute of play, and Michaelson ripped a right-footed laser past the TSS FC goalkeeper, making it a 1-0 lead for the Timbers U23s.

TSS FC responded with two goals in a span of five minutes midway through the first stanza, however, regaining control and the 2-1 lead.

Late in the first half, Zhividze worked some individual magic for the Timbers U23s, beating three defenders before burying a left-footed strike into the right side of the goal, tying the contest at 2-2.

The second stanza certainly had its chances for both sides, with the Timbers U23s maintaining more of the possession, but a number of opportunities were narrowly missed, resulting in the 2-2 tie.

The Timbers U23s return to the pitch on Sunday when they take on the Victoria Highlanders FC at 2 p.m. in Victoria, B.C.
