SALEM, Ore. – The Timbers U23s announced on Friday the second wave of returning players from last year’s team that would be coming back to Salem in 2018 to play for the Timbers U23 PDL squad. Wouter Verstraaten and Bob Groenendijk, who both compete for the University of the Pacific, are set to be back with the Timbers U23 team this summer, pending league approval.

Another wave of returners will be announced soon, with players from the 2017 Timbers U23 PDL Division Championship team set to come back to Salem in 2018.

Verstraaten and Groenendijk were both key pieces in last year’s Northwest Division Championship team, and both were also All-Conference players for Pacific this last fall. They led Pacific to the NCAA Tournament, winning in the First Round before falling in the Second Round to the eventual National Champions, Stanford, in penalty kicks.
