Timbers U23 hosted Lane United in Bend, Ore., May 26.

BEND, Ore. – Timbers U23 go down 3-1 against Lane United FC at Summit High School over in Bend, Ore.

The Timbers U23 hosted Lane United in Bend Ore. this weekend along running a clinic with Timbers legend, Jack Jewsbury, followed by a golf tournament at Tetherow Resort.

The squad switched up their lineup Sunday looking to bounce back from Friday night’s match against the Seattle Sounders U23. A 25th minute save by goalkeeper, Trevor Wilson, fell back into the hands of Lane United who were able to finish the run and go up 1-0. In the 45th minute, a beautiful free kick from Gio Magna-Rivera allowed Gerardo Lopez to tap the ball in and tie the game 1-1 headed into halftime.

In the 64th minute, Lane fired again, scoring off another Wilson save. The Timbers fought for the equalizer, but fell short and allowed Lane to score again late in the 84th minute.

Head coach, Aaron Lewis, has faith that the squad will continue to move forward until they have found the solution.

“The guys recognize that the performances haven’t been in line with their professional aspirations. I believe we have players that will continue to work to get it right. There are not many opportunities like this next weekend to start a new trend, home matches against the defending USL 2 champs.”

The team will return to action this weekend against Calgary Foothills FC at McCulloch Stadium.
