EUGENE, Ore. — Timbers U23 suffer a 3-0 loss against Lane United FC in their second matchup of the season.

Head coach, Aaron Lewis, took the game as another learning experience, eager for the boys to get back to work.

“Tonight we created a lot of quality chances and were on the ball more than almost any match this year. I’m confident that if the guys continue to put themselves in those situations throughout the next week, those results will be different.”

The match went the Reds way early on with a goal from Charlie Spurr in the 5th minute followed by a goal from a free kick in the 13th minute off the boot of Soren Jensen.

In the 32nd minute, an opportunity for Timur Zhividze was stopped by the Red goalkeeper with an incredible diving save. Chances for the Timbers continued to arise, but nothing was able to be capitalized on.

The Reds led most of the second half 2-0 until the 86th minute when a freekick bounced off the crossbar and was tapped in by Eric Diaz to put them up 3-0.

The squad continues their three-game road stretch this weekend in Seattle and Canada. They will return home, June 23 against TSS FC Rovers.
