Timbers U23 announce three VCU players set to join the 2019 squad this summer (Top: Simon Fitch, Middle: Mario Sequeira, Bottom: Martin Ngoh).

SALEM, Ore. – The Timbers U23s announced today that Mario Sequeira, who was a standout goalkeeper on the 2018 Timbers U23 squad, will be returning to play for the team this summer in Salem after a successful fall season with Virginia Commonwealth University. Along with Sequeira, two other VCU players will be added to this seasons Timbers U23 squad.

Sequeira, from San Jose, Costa Rica, was a member of U20 Costa Rican National Team & made appearances with Saprissa First Team. He made an immediate impact both last summer with the Timbers U23 and over at VCU where he garnered A-10 Second Team honors and was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week three different times this season. Sequeira tallied 53 saves and a .97 goals against percentage, which is ranked fifth in the A-10.

Set to join Sequeira and the Timbers U23 2019 roster are:

Simon Fitch – MF – Richmond, Virginia (Played for the Richmond Kickers Pro Team as a senior in high school, making an appearance against Swansea City of the EPL.)

Martin Ngoh – F – Goldvein, Virginia (A member of the Richmond United Academy since its inception in 2014. He led the academy in scoring.)
