SALEM, Ore. – Major League Soccer (MLS) recently announced its initial list of invitees to the 2018 MLS Soccer Combine, and four Timbers U23 alums were included in the invite list and will attend the combine, set for January 11-17 in Orlando, Fla.

Two Timbers U23s from the 2017 PDL Northwest Division Championship team highlight the selections, as both Niko De Vera and Nate Shultz were selected to attend the combine. Both De Vera and Shultz were key to the success of the 2018 University Akron squad that won the conference title and made a run all the way to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to De Vera and Shultz, who were both integral members of this past summer’s success in Salem for the Timbers U23s, two other Timbers U23 alums were invited to participate in the combine. Mohamed Thiaw, from the University of Louisville, and Ben White of Gonzaga University, will both attend the 2018 MLS Combine.

A committee of coaches from MLS and NCAA Division I universities from every conference selected the invitees, who have all completed their college eligibility. 60 total NCAA Division I players were selected.

Additional invitees will be announced ahead of the combine.
