SALEM, Ore. – Blake Bodily scored two goals on Sunday afternoon, and the Timbers U23s defeated the Victoria Highlanders FC, 2-1. The win was the second of the season for the Timbers U23s over the Highlanders. VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:

“In the first half, our possession game was as patient and effective as it has been all season,” said Timbers U23 head coach Aaron Lewis. “The second half, Victoria tried to take that away from us and space behind them opened up. I’m confident this group will build on that heading into another big week ahead.”

Bodily opened the scoring in the 21st minute when he finished off an incredible combination play that was assisted by Jonathan Jimenez and Camden Riley.

He hit the post a minute later when he almost doubled the Timbers U23 lead, but the home side held the lead at the break, 1-0.

In the 65th minute of action, Bodily scored again when he headed home a cross from Alan Cruz Ramirez, making it 2-0.

The Highlanders pulled one back when Francesco Bartillilo buried his shot in the 73rd, but that would be all the visitors would get, resulting in the one-goal triumph for the Timbers U23s.

The Timbers U23s outshot the Highlanders on the day, 16-10.

The Timbers U23s are back in action in Springfield on Friday night when they take on Lane United FC. Kickoff on June 29 is slated for 7 p.m.
