USL PDL MATCH RECAP | Lane United FC 0, Portland Timbers U23 1

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Playing their first game of a two-match road trip, the Portland Timbers U23 defeated Lane United FC 1-0 for their second win of the PDL season on Wednesday night at the Willamalane Center for Sports and Recreation.

Lane United FC (3-3-4, 13pts) had a chance early on in the 17th minute after they were awarded a penalty kick. Portland goalkeeper Colin Partee, who finished the match with three saves, stopped the penalty to keep the game tied at 0-0.

The Timbers U23 (2-6-3, 9pts) opened the scoring in the 45th minute off a set piece play. Midfielder Max Ornstil took the corner and found defender Walker Hume at the far post, who headed it across the goal for his brother Tucker Hume to nod it in from point blank range to take the 1-0 advantage.

Late in the match, United FC had a goal-scoring opportunity off of a free kick from 35 yards away from goal. United FC midfielder Michael Bajza chipped the ball to his teammate at the back post and forced Partee into diving stop to his left.

Next up, Portland will finish their two-match road trip against Kitsap Pumas at Gordon Field on Wednesday, July 6; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific).
