Timbers U23s Bolster Roster with Seven Timbers Academy Alums

(The Timbers U23s added seven Timbers Academy alums to its 2018 roster.)

SALEM, Ore. – The Timbers U23s announced on Tuesday that seven more Timbers Academy alums would be joining the 2018 Timbers U23 squad. Of those seven academy standouts, three are returners from the 2017 Timbers U23 PDL Division Championship team.

“The addition of these players will not only will help us on the field this summer, but also is a testament to the job our academy coaches are doing to develop quality players within the club,” said Timbers U23 head coach Aaron Lewis. “All of these guys are familiar with how we play, and we look forward to getting them back to the Willamette Valley soon.”

The three returners from last year’s Timbers U23 squad include Reid Baez, Zach Nelson, and Timur Zhividze.

Baez, who now competes at Seattle Pacific University, originally also played for Capital Futbol Club (CFC) prior to collegiate soccer. In addition, Joe Corner also competed for CFC prior to playing for the Timbers Academy and college soccer.

Joe Corner – Timbers Academy/Gonzaga University
