SALEM, Ore. – The Timbers U23s announced on Friday morning that six collegiate standouts would be joining the Timbers U23 PDL squad this summer in Salem. Walker Andriot, Willie Spurr, Benji Michel, Andrew Konstantino, Alex Segovia, and Roy Boateng are the six newest commitments for the Timbers U23s, pending league approval.

“We are excited to add such a quality group to an already experienced core,” said Timbers U23 head coach Aaron Lewis. “Each one of these players have come in highly recommended and we look forward to working with them to compete at a very high level this summer.”

Andriot joins the Timbers U23s after three years as a midfielder at Xavier University. In 2016, he started all 19 games for the Musketeers, scoring one goal while dishing out three assists on the campaign. In 12 of the matches over the course of the season, he played every available minute. While also a starter as a sophomore and a freshman, Andriot garnered Big EAST All-Rookie Team plaudits in 2014. Prior to Xavier, he grew up in Kentucky and was named the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association State Boys Player of the Year in 2012. Andriot is set to compete with the University of Louisville in the fall of 2017.

Spurr, who has been competing for the Kitsap Soccer Club over the course of the last year, previously played at The Evergreen State College. While at Evergreen, Spurr was a perennial Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) First-Team All-CCC player, serving as the team’s playmaker throughout his career. Not only did he start in nearly every game, but he scored countless big-time goals, including eight during his senior season. Prior to Evergreen, he grew up in Seattle and attended Roosevelt High School.

Michel is set to compete on the Timbers U23s following a standout freshman season with the University of Portland, in which he led the Pilots to the West Coast Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. While scoring a team-best 10 goals, he also dished out four assists for a team-best 24 points. Of Michel’s 10 goals, three were game-winners. Prior to UP, Michel was the leading goal scorer at Montverde Academy where he helped Montverde continue the 136 game unbeaten streak, marking a national record.

Hailing from Hercules, Calif., Konstantino served as the primary goalkeeper for Saint Mary’s College, making 12 starts for the Gaels in the net in 2016. He registered a goals-against average of 1.33 and earned one shutout while making five saves in a 1-0 win over Santa Clara. For his efforts, he collected West Coast Conference Honorable-Mention All-Conference plaudits. Prior to Saint Mary’s, he competed for De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. earning All-League accolades three times.

Segovia joins the Timbers U23s after playing at Oregon State University over the past couple of years. While totaling 19 appearances and seven starts during his Beaver career, he played in the midfielder throughout his time at OSU. Prior to OSU, Segovia played for the Westside Metros Galacticos and the Portland Timbers Academy. In addition, he was a member of the U.S. Youth National Team during his youth.

Hailing from Rohnert Park, Calif., Boateng comes to the Timbers U23s after receiving Honorable-Mention All-Conference honors in each of the last two years at UC Davis. Boateng, who serves as one of the team’s key defenders, led the Aggies to a 1.16 goals-against average on the year, consistently shutting down opposing teams’ top attackers. During the 2016 campaign, he started and played in all 20 games, playing in more minutes than anyone else on the team. Boateng is originally from Accra, Ghana, but after coming to the United States, helped his club team, Santa Rosa United, to a Cal-Cup Title and State Cup in 2013.
